GetPiol

Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 August 2026

This page explains, in plain words, what the GetPiol app records, where that information lives, and what it never does with it. It applies to the GetPiol Android app (com.getpiol.app) and to the getpiol.com website.

In one sentence

Your data stays on your phone. GetPiol has no server, collects nothing behind your back, shows no advertising and sells no data.

Who is responsible

The publisher of GetPiol is named on the Contact page. For the tenant data you enter in the app, you are responsible for its accuracy and its use, just as you are for your paper receipt book; GetPiol provides the tool.

What the app records

Data Why Where
Your name, phone number and signature They appear on the receipts you issue On your phone
Your properties and units To keep track of your compound On your phone
Your tenants’ names and phone numbers, and the language of their documents To issue their receipts, in their language, and send them On your phone
Rents, charges, payments, security deposits, receipts This is the account book On your phone
A technical identifier of your device and a technical log with no personal data To diagnose a problem if you send it to us On your phone

None of this data is sent to GetPiol. The app works entirely offline.

What can leave your phone — and only by your action

Android automatic backup

If your phone is signed in to a Google account with automatic backup enabled, Android may copy the app’s data to Google Drive, encrypted, as it does for your other apps. Google stores it under its own rules, on servers located outside Cameroon; GetPiol has no access to it. Because this is also your tenants’ data, GetPiol asks for your choice on this at first launch and lets you change it at any time; without your agreement, the receipt book is kept in a folder Android never backs up.

What GetPiol does not do

Your rights, and your tenants’ rights

You can view and export your data at any time from the app (“Back up my receipt book”). A correction in the account book is written as a new dated entry, never by erasing: this is what makes the book reliable for you and for the tenant alike. To erase everything: uninstall the app and, if you use it, delete GetPiol’s backup in your Google account settings (an “Erase all my data” command is coming in a future version).

Your tenants have their own information page, the one the law asks you to give them: Information for tenants. A tenant who wants to know what a landlord has recorded about them should ask that landlord, who holds the data; GetPiol can help word the request through the Contact page.

GetPiol is designed so that you can comply with Cameroonian legislation on the protection of personal data: your tenants’ data stays in your keeping, on your phone, and this page tells you exactly what happens to it. It will be completed before any server goes live.

What will change, and when

A future version of GetPiol will offer, at your choice, online backup, receipt verification by code, and tenant access to their own statement. These features require a server; this page will be updated before they go live, and you will be told in the app.
